Budd-built 2200-series unit 2204-2203 is not in service here, acting as a test train before this series of cars entered revenue service. It is on the north side main line in August, 1969. (Photo by Jerry Appleman)

This is a picture of 2244 in May of 1998. The cars were on a CERA fantrip at Chicago/Franklin on the Brown Line. These cars are unique because these cars were used in the movie Mercury Rising, starring Bruce Willis. The destination sign hanging on the front chains were temporary signs made from old curtains used for a period when the roller curtains had been changed out but before the line colors were instituted. A 2200-series car leads a Blue Line train heading into the UIC-Halsted station on January 22, 1999. The car's marker lights indicate that the train is bound for the Forest Park Branch. The Peoria station house is visible in the center, above the canopy. (Photo by Sean Gash)

In November 1977, line car S-606 caught fire in the Skokie Shops yard. As a result, car 50 was damaged by the flames and car 2315, seen here on December 1, 1977, was essentially destroyed, unable to be repaired to reenter revenue service. (Photo by Peter Vesic)

A crack it the box girder at 18th and Federal caused the Dan Ryan Line to be cut off from the Loop in January 1978. Trains ran from 95th to Sox-35th, while Lake Street trains circled the Outer Loop. Additional trains were placed in service on the Howard-Englewood Line using 2000's and 2200's from the Lake-Dan Ryan roster. One such train runs southbound here, approaching the Harvard/63rd station on January 6, 1978. (Photo by Peter Vesic)

A 2200-series Congress-Milwaukee "A" train is trailed by car 2227, boarding passengers at Desplaines Terminal on October 4, 1972. The strings of lights give the platform, approximately 20 years old by the time of the photo, an unfinished look. (Photo by Steve Zabel, Collection of Joe Testagrose)

A 2-car Lake-Dan Ryan All-Stop train, led by car 2231, pulls out of the 95th Terminal on July 4, 1971. Except for the lack of 2200-series cars assigned to the Dan Ryan Line, the scene has changed little today. (Collection of Joe Testagrose)
