Restored car 6101, pictured at Kimball terminal, leads a 6-car train of 6000-series PCC cars on a ceremonial last run Friday December 4, 1992, before the 6000-series was retired from service. The trip operated from Kimball to the Loop, became an Evanston Express there and ran to Linden, then deadheaded with passengers back to Kimball. The cars last ran in regular revenue service on the Ravenswood and Evanston Express runs. (Photo by Bruce Moffat)

This is a picture of 6655-6656 at IRM in May of 1999. These cars never had trolley poles in CTA revenue service, but poles were added in 1997 to allow the cars to run at the museum. The car is displaying the destination sign of the O'Hare-Douglas B run, with the special sign for trains ending at River Road. These are the only operating 6000s in the world right now. In the 1980s, the CTA sold several 6000-series cars to the SEPTA transit system in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They rehabbed and repainted the cars and put them into service on their Morristown route. (Photo from Chicago's "L"/Subway System: Volume 1 - Rolling Stock from All-the-6000s-You-Missed Productions)

An interior shot of car 6129, dated February 1975, shows its fluorescent lights. Unit 6129-6130 had an unusual operational life. Car 6129 was originally equipped with the bullet lights of the 6001-6200 group of cars, but fluorescent lights were installed in August 1963. Among other changes to the experimental car at various times were the motors, trucks, and controls. (Photo by Peter Vesic)
