3200-series Longitudinal Test Seating Car Gallery

Car 3251 leads a northbound train heading into 35th/Archer on March 18, 2001. Note the generic "CTA" destination sign: due to serious structural problems with a building at 188 W. Randolph, the CTA was forced to suspend service along Wells Street, necessitating a temporary Midway-Ravenswood through-route. The green-green marker readings are unusual, their meaning uncertain. Can you see the photographer reflected in the front window? (Photo by Mike Farrell)

3200-series car 3279 brings up the rear of a northbound Midway-Ravenswood train stopped at 35/Archer on March 18, 2001. Although the Brown and Orange lines share the same car types, Midway-assigned cars (of which 3279 is one) don't have Ravenswood readings on their roller curtains, necessitating the use of the general CTA sign reading. A Midway-bound Orange Line train, consisting of car 3294 and several others, pulls off CTA's shared right-of-way with CSX and onto their shared right-of-way with Canadian National as it approaches Western/49 station on June 9, 2001. (Photo by Mike Farrell)

On its way to the Loop, car 3319 and the rest of its Brown Line train pulls around the original curved section of Chicago/Franklin to its berthing stop on the newer, straight extension of the platform, looking north on June 10, 2001. (Photo by Mike Farrell)

In mid-August 2001, car 3321 became one of four cars ad wrapped for the IBM eserver and Linux, with a back exterior and three circles at both ends, each containing a peace symbol, a heart, and the trademark Linux penguin. Here, car 3321 pulls into Belmont on August 22, 2001. (Photo by Mike Farrell)
