Car 3251 leads a northbound train heading into 35/Archer on March 18, 2001. Note the generic "CTA" destination sign: due to serious structural problems with a building at 188 W. Randolph, the CTA was forced to suspend service along Wells Street, necessitating a temporary Midway-Ravenswood through-route. The green-green marker readings are unusual, their meaning uncertain. Can you see the photographer reflected in the front window? (Photo by Mike Farrell) |

3200-series car 3279 brings up the rear of a northbound Midway-Ravenswood train stopped at 35/Archer on March 18, 2001. Although the Brown and Orange Lines share the same car types, Midway-assigned cars (of which 3279 is one) don't have Ravenswood readings on their roller curtains, necessitating the use of the general CTA sign reading. In mid-August 2001, car 3321 became one of four cars ad wrapped for the IBM eserver and Linux, with a back exterior and three circles at both ends, each containing a peace symbol, a heart, and the trademark Linux penguin. Here, car 3321 pulls into Belmont on August 22, 2001. (Photo by Mike Farrell) |
